welcome LIGHTS!

the ccsa 2007 softball season is fast approaching. the forms are in, the uniforms on order and the sun is out. it’s that time again to dust off those gloves, polish those evos and synergy bats, sanitize those cleats that have been left untouched since last season and get in shape for some good ole fashion softball.

if the weather holds up, LIGHTS will be playing softball this Saturday, 2pm at the bayview fairways, near bayview and john. come out, play some softball, meet the team, take a break from studying for exams and unleash the child inside of you that yearns to be free. free from stress, free from the bondage of our textbooks and study notes, free from algorithms and matrices, free from our dimly lit desks and swivel chairs, free from our roommates, free from the addiction to caffeine and all nighters, and free from msn, icq, asian avenue, friendster, and the deadly facebook. so that we can unite with one voice and exclaim, “free at last!, free at last!”...alrite, who are we kidding...maybe for just 3hrs but it will be a good 3hrs. so come join us for some fun in the sun, see ya all there for the super rusty and slowest runner competition! LOL!

softball signup has started!

For those who happen to stumble on to this blog, softball signup for the 2007 season has begun! Feb. 18 is the deadline for form and $30 registration fee.

this is not the end...just the beginning!

hey everyone,

once again, i just wanted to congratulate you guys on another great season of softball. it's been an honour for me to lead you guys this year and i truly am very proud of this team. i'm proud that we known by other teams in the league to have great softball skills, but more importantly great softball spirit. know that you guys have encouraged me, the leadership team, each other, and other teams in the league. that's what CCSA's about :) ...and it's kinda nice you guys got an award to show for it ;)

i hope you guys had a good season and a good time at fellowship cup too, despite the weather and last minute change of parks on sunday. thanks for taking to heart what LIGHTS is all about and staying strong till the very end. i do hope that this isn't the end tho, eventho the season's over. again, i hope that we can all stay connected with each other as much as possible. maybe we can have a few get togethers during the year....and yes, i'll see what i can do about a christmas party at my house haha. but yeah...come out to SALT on fridays, if you don't already and drop by our service on sundays if you can. you're always welcome and we'd love to have you. and i know i'll see you guys next season :)

thanks again for being such a great team. lights wouldnt' be the same without you guys. oh! i still have a bunch of gifts for those who couldn't make it to my house on saturday but i'll find a way to get them to you. all the best in this coming school year (ew, i know) and in your work places. remember the things you've learned this summer, remember each other, and keep lighting it up wherever you are.

ccsa banquet 2006

banquet + fellowship cup + bbq

it's been a great season of softball and while we didn't make it further into the playoffs, this season has definitely been packed with many memorable moments. we've come along way since we first meet way back in june, so be proud of what you have accomplished and hopefully this experience has changed you in some way. thanx for a great season of softball but more importantly thank you for the friendships that have been built throughout this summer. praise GOD!

as a reminder, the upcoming CCSA softball banquet will be held on thurs. aug. 31/06 at the hilton suites hotel(hwy 7 & warden) starting at 6:30pm(not chinese time!). we'll be seated as a team with the rest of RHCBC's softball teams. so, dress to impress and don't forget your digi cams to take lots of pictures.

for those who have not had enough of softball, the fellowship cup will be held at richvale greenway park starting sat. sept. 02/06. the fellowship cup will be a two day softball event where all the RHCBC's softball teams compete in friendly softball games. the schedule for the two day event is as follows:

sat. 1pm: canaan & lights
sat. 3pm: misfits 1 & lights
sat. 5pm: misfits 2 & lights
sun. 2pm: no game: we cheer!
sun. 4pm: apostles & lights

the tournament will be held at richvale greenway, located just west of hillcrest mall. if you go north on yonge, turn left(west) on 16th ave.(also called carrville road). the second street pass the mall is avenue road and you will turn right(north). follow avenue road for a minute and on your left you will see the parking-lot for the diamonds.

if you are interested in the BBQ on sunday after the fellowship cup, please pay in advance $5.00 at the next LIGHTS softball practice to either joyce or will.

once again this will be a great opportunity for YOU to fellowship with other team players from all our teams including the misfits.

so, end the summer off with a bang and come join LIGHTS for one last bit of SOFTBALL before it all ends.

*drum roll*....LIGHTS are in the playoffs!!

YES!...LIGHTS are in the playoffs!! It's been an awesome season of softball and all our hard work as paid off. The playoffs will consists of five rounds and follows the format of "win or go home" - basically, if you win, you advance to the next round; but if you lose, you are eliminated. Our first round game is this coming Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 2pm at Wigmore Park. If we advance to the second round, it will also be on the 19th, but at 5:00pm at Wigmore Park.

Several of us are planning on arriving at the park at 11:45am, so if you want a little batting practice before the game, you are very welcome to join us. If not, that's okay, but do not show up later than 1:15pm. If something comes up and you know you're gonna be late, call bobby and let him know so that he knows not to scratch you from the lineup and defense.

Very Important...don't forget to e-mail bobby by thursday midnight sharp and let him know whether or not you can make it to both the 2:00pm and 5:00pm games.

WoW...what a day of softball everyone! LIGHTS would like to thank the Samaritans for a great game of softball packed with amazing plays and lots of team spirit. It was an amazing time of fellowship at Swiss for dinner with lots of laughs and memories. All the best to the Smaritans during the playoffs!
